Our October meetup brewed up a cauldron of creativity—bubbling with 3D printing discussions, card game designs, and the kind of career wisdom that sneaks up on you like a friendly ghost. We talked about how every conversation, no matter how small, can spark something big down the road. You never know which piece of advice or casual chat might become the missing puzzle in your creative journey.
And of course, a huge thank-you to Bilal Khan, who conjured up 3D-printed AVG logo magnets to hand out to members — the perfect Halloween treat for our creative coven!

Miami Animation Meetup Highlights
Our conversations were lively, insightful, and just the right amount of spooky fun. Here are the big takeaways from the night:
3D Printing Magic: From digital sculpts to tangible designs, members shared ideas on using 3D printing to enhance portfolios, prototypes, and personal projects.
Game Design Potions: We explored the art of crafting board and card games, from mechanics to visual storytelling — proving how design thinking crosses mediums.
Talk to Everyone: The “Halloween rule” of networking — knock on every door! You never know which conversation holds the golden candy of wisdom.
Cross-Discipline Alchemy: Artists from every corner of the industry mixed ideas like ingredients in a spell, creating new insights and collaborations.
Academic to Industry Pipeline: Our FIU professor and SCAD grads discussed new pathways and programs in animation, VFX, and gaming right here in South Florida.
Community Vibes: New members shared that they felt welcomed and excited to grow with the AVG family — a creative space where no one goes unseen.
Spotlight: Isai Oveido’s Pixel Art Style Card Games

One of the highlights of the night came from Isai Oveido, who brought two of his original card games, each crafted in his signature pixel art style. Members gathered around to playtest the games, give feedback, and dive into conversations about game balance, art direction, and storytelling through mechanics.
Isai’s work captured the spirit of indie creativity — playful, nostalgic, and full of personality. We can’t wait to see where his ideas evolve next!
