The Batship Studio Collab Event felt like stepping into a creative playground built for game dev and cinematic experimentation—right here in Miami.

About 30 of us packed in, with the RSVP completely maxed out and a waitlist behind it. The crowd was a real mix of students and professionals, and the vibe was instantly welcoming. You could feel it in the conversations: people were excited to meet each other, eager to share knowledge, and genuinely surprised (in the best way) that something like this exists in Miami.

Walking Into Batship Studio Collab Event

Batship Studio set the tone the moment you walked in. The space has a gaming aesthetic with neon pink, fluorescent low lighting that makes everything feel like a live environment art scene—like you’re inside a stylized cyber hub where ideas are meant to ship, not sit in a folder.

Projectors covered the walls with videos from the workshops Valentina Echeverry hosts, so even while people were introducing themselves, the room was quietly showing what Batship is about: learning by doing and building real skills with real tools.

Unreal Engine Stations and Metahuman Demos

A major highlight of the Batship Collab Event was getting hands-on access to computers running Unreal Engine. People could jump in and explore different MetaHumans—with facial capture turned on—for anyone curious to play around and see what’s possible.

That setup did something important: it turned the room into more than a meetup. It became a lab. You didn’t just talk about tech—you could actually touch it, test it, and start asking better questions in real time.

A Full Pipeline of Talent in One Room

We had professors from UM and FIU, plus students from MDC and FIU, alongside working professionals from various diciplines. The range of disciplines was huge: illustrators, environment artists, level designers, software engineers, storyboard artists, riggers, animators, character modelers, VFX artists, fashion designers, cloth and hair simulation specialists, sound engineers, programmers, lighting artists, 3D printing experts, VR experts, pixel artists, tech artists, and more.

It felt like a real studio cross-discipline meeting full of encouragement and curiosity.

The Biggest Takeaway: Motivation and Miami Pride

The loudest message of the night wasn’t said once—it was repeated in different ways by almost everyone: everyone was highly motivated and in awe that this existed in Miami.

A lot of people learned about AVG and Batship Studio for the first time. Some discovered both communities that night. Others were regulars at AVG events and were just learning about Batship—and immediately wanted to stay connected after seeing the space, the demos, and the momentum.

AVG members really showed up, too. People were motivating each other, sharing resources, trading feedback on projects, and looking for ways to help the next generation. There was a real eagerness to learn Unreal, to keep building, and to connect with Batship beyond this event.

What’s Next

If this event proved anything, it’s that Miami has the talent—and more importantly, the culture—to grow something real. When you put the right people in the right room, the collaboration doesn’t need to be forced. It happens naturally.

The Batship Studio Collab Event wasn’t just a good time. It was a signal: this community is ready, and it’s only getting started.
