On June 27, 2026, AVG Guild hosted Pixel Perspective: Pixel Art Workshop by Isai Oviedo, a free public workshop focused on character design, environments, and the fundamentals of pixel art for animation, game design, and visual storytelling.

Held at CDR in Doral, the workshop brought together 16 attendees for a hands-on creative session where everyone had the chance to learn, experiment, and build their own pixel art pieces using Aseprite. By the end of the workshop, each participant had created both a character and an isometric scene, which is a huge accomplishment for a three-hour session.

One of the biggest wins of the day was being able to offer this workshop completely free to the public. Thanks to the support of our donors and sponsors, AVG Guild was able to cover the presenter and venue costs, allowing attendees to focus on learning without worrying about a ticket price.

Learning Pixel Art Step by Step

The workshop was designed to be approachable for casual artists, students, and industry professionals interested in learning or improving their pixel art skills. Isai guided attendees through the basics of building characters and environments, while also introducing techniques that can be used in animation, game design, and digital illustration.

Everyone stayed engaged throughout the session, asking questions, following along, and bringing their own creative ideas to life. Isai’s patience, attentiveness, and deep knowledge made a big impact. He took the time to support audience members individually and made sure participants felt comfortable as they worked through the exercises.

By the end of the event, the room was full of finished characters, colorful scenes, and a lot of creative energy.

A Community Collection

In the days following the event, Isai gathered all the participant images and combined them into one collection. Seeing everyone’s work together was a great reminder of what can happen when people have access to creative education, supportive instruction, and a community that encourages them to make something new.

Each piece reflected a different personality and approach, which made the final collection feel even more special.
